Police: Va. mom ordered her child to fight another student at elementary school

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (AP) -- Portsmouth police say a 27-year-old mother ordered her child to fight another student at an elementary school while she held the other student down.

Jeneve Marshall was charged with four counts of assault and battery Friday. Marshall was also charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor and disorderly conduct.

Police say Marshall confronted a student in her child's class who had been in a previous altercation with her child. Police say Marshall then ordered her child to fight the student.

The student broke free from Marshall, but police say Marshall chased down the child and assaulted three other children who were in her way. The children suffered minor injuries.

Jail records do not indicate whether Marshall has an attorney who can comment on the charges.
