Police searching for man accused of abducting ex-girlfriend at knifepoint

Prince William County police are asking for help from the public in finding a 34-year-old man who is believed to have abducted his ex-girlfriend from her bedroom early Saturday morning.

Investigators say 34-year-old Jorge Alberto Corea-Berrios was last seen wearing a white sweater and light blue jeans. He has ties to Manassas and New York.

The victim, 25-year-old Yezmin Elizabeth Ruiz-Monchez, was kidnapped around 12:30 a.m. Saturday morning. Police say Corea-Berrios broke into her apartment, cut her roommate with a kitchen knife, and forced his way into the bedroom. They say he abducted Ruiz-Monchez at knifepoint and then sexually assaulted her, but she was eventually able to get away. She contacted police, and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Police also say Corea-Berrios is suspected of chocking her days before the kidnapping.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call Prince William County police.
