Police say shoplifting crime down since department started posting mug shots online

The Dover Police Department says they have seen a drop in shoplifting complaints since they started to post mug shots of those arrested online.

The Shoplifter Notification Program began on August 7th, 2014 and officers say they have noted a 19 percent drop in shoplifting cases.

The program posts mug shots of people arrested for shoplifting on a weekly basis on the department website and social media pages.
