Police: Robbery victims targeted on Craigslist; arrests made

Prince George's County police are warning people about the dangers of buying or selling items using classified websites and apps after four robberies in just six days earlier this month.

Police say three victims reported being targeted after placing ads on Craigslist to sell their iPhones. In each case, the victims were robbed at gunpoint after meeting with someone claiming to be an interested buyer.

A fourth victim, someone who was trying to buy a phone, was robbed after meeting a potential seller through an app called ‘Offer Up.'

All of these incidents happened during the daytime and the victims showed up alone. No one was hurt.

Police have made arrests in three of these robberies. The suspects are 26-year-old Alford Wade III, 17-year-old Kemith Calvin and a 15-year-old who is not being identified.

Anyone with information about these cases is asked to call police at 301-772-4475.
