Police: Student involved in shooting near Suitland High School

Police say they are searching for two suspects after a student was shot in the leg after an argument with another student near a Prince George's County high school.

The incident happened around 12 p.m. near Suitland High School in a parking lot on Brooks Drive in Suitland, Maryland.

As of Friday evening there had been no arrests.

At the crime scene k9 teams followed scents and searched through the leaves near where the shell casings fell while officers with long guns searched the area.

The victim was transported to a nearby hospital with what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

Kelai'ah Wheelan says during the lockdown the school wasn't providing much information so she and he fellow students got on their phones and got on social media.

"We were reading and we saw postings on twitter and Facebook that said oh only at Suitland it has to be a Suitland kid and I took great offense to that maybe there are a few bad seeds but don't let a bad apple spoil the bunch you know--I think Suitland kids have a lot of promise and we are very creative," said Wheelan, a student at the school.

Police are searching for two suspects at this time.
