1 in custody after police led on chase through Fairfax

Authorities say one person has been taken into custody after an early morning police pursuit and chase through Fairfax. The incident began when a Fairfax County Police officer tried to pull over a vehicle around 6:30 a.m.

Authorities say the driver did not stop the vehicle, and instead, drove to the intersection of Fairfax County Parkway and Popes Head Road. Police say several occupants, including the driver, jumped from the vehicle and fled on foot.

Officers say one of the men who fled was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt and one of the women who fled was wearing a white hooded sweatshirt.

One Fairfax County Police officer was injured after his vehicle was driven off-road. That officer's injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

For a short period, residents in the area of O'Faly Road and Popes Head Road were asked to remain indoors while they used K9 units to track the suspects.

The one individual was taken into custody by police around 10 a.m. Police say they are not actively looking for any other suspects at this time.
