Police: Newport News man bites off roommate's ear

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (AP) -- A Newport News man has been charged after police say he bit off part of his roommate's ear.

WVEC-TV (http://bit.ly/1HtRkcj) reports 58-year-old Arthur Baker was arguing with his roommate June 8 when the confrontation became physical.

Police say Baker punched the 37-year-old victim in the mouth and eye. He then got his roommate in a chokehold and bit off part of his right ear.

The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment. His condition has not been released.

Baker was arrested and charged with aggravated malicious wounding. It is unclear if he has a lawyer.
