Police investigate shooting in Silver Spring; lockdown lifted a high school

Police say a Silver Spring gas station employee was hurt during a robbery in the Four Corners are on Friday morning.

According to Montgomery County police, the Emergency Call Center received a call at 6:35 a.m. for an armed robbery that had just occurred at the Shell Gas Station on 100 University Boulevard West in Four Corners. Officers from the 3rd District responded and found a man with an injury to the head.

Police believe the suspect went inside the gas station and pulled a handgun. During the course of the robbery, the suspect struck the victim on the head with the handgun.

The suspect was last seen fleeing on foot to the right of the gas station after obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash. Officers and K9 units began a search of the area for the suspect.

Because of its proximity to the scene, Montgomery Blair High School was on lockdown during the investigation. It was lifted around 10 a.m.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic or white male who is between 5'8" and 5'9" tall. He was wearing black pants and a black jacket, and was armed with a black handgun. During the robbery he concealed his face.
