WOODBRIDGE, Va. - Two people were shot at a hotel in Prince William County on Monday, according to officials.
Prince William County police said they responded to a shooting at the Quality Inn located in the 1100 block of Horner Road in Woodbridge at about 8:50 a.m.
Employees told police that a 54-year-old woman from New York, who was staying at the hotel, walked into the lobby with a gunshot wound to her upper body.
The woman told employees a fight had taken place inside one of the rooms with a male acquaintance. The victim was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Police arrived at the scene and evacuated guests near the room where the altercation had occurred.
After several attempts were made to contact the man inside the room, a tactical team entered and found him suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body.
The man, identified as a 55-year-old man from New York, was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Authorities said a handgun was found inside the room and they were trying to determine what led up to the fight.
Investigators said the man and the woman knew each other and the incident was isolated to the room.
Officials said their investigation was ongoing.
