WOODBRIDGE, Va. - A doctor was stabbed multiple times by a patient at a Woodbridge health center on Tuesday morning, Prince William County police said.
Police were called to the Prince William Community Health Center at 4379 Ridgewood Center Drive in Woodbridge at 8:52 a.m. Tuesday, according to officials.
Initially police were told that there was a fight at the health center and gunshots had possibly been fired, but when police arrived, they determined no shots had been fired. Instead, an adult male doctor was suffering from multiple stab wounds, police said.
A suspect was quickly identified and is in police custody, according to officials. The doctor was taken to a local hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries, police said. The suspect was being treated at the center, but not directly by the doctor who was stabbed, according to officials.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
