Police: Alcohol involved in deadly Loudoun Co. crash

- Police believe alcohol was involved in an accident that left one person dead and caused major traffic delays Tuesday morning in Loudoun County.

It happened around 2 am on northbound Route 28 prior to the Dulles Toll Road near the Dulles International Airport. Police say the driver of a Jeep Wrangler, 26-year-old Andre M. Glenn of Sterling, Va., was traveling north on Route 28 when he hit a traffic divider.

Two female passengers were thrown from the vehicle upon impact. One of those passengers, a woman from Leesburg whose identity has not yet been released by police, was killed. The other survived, and was taken to a local hospital to be treated for serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Glenn and another male passenger remained inside the vehicle and were not seriously hurt.

Police have charged Glenn with DUI and driving on a suspended license.

All northbound lanes of Route 28 were closed for several hours. Backups stretching several miles snarled traffic until the roadway fully reopened around 7 a.m.

The crash remains under investigation.
