Police search for suspect after another fatal daytime shooting in SE DC

WASHINGTON - Police were called to the scene of yet another daytime shooting in southeast D.C. on Wednesday afternoon. This time, the scene was at Morris Road SE and Mt. View Place SE.

D.C. police say around 12:40 p.m., officers arrived to find 24-year-old Thomas Meriedy unconscious and unresponsive after being shot multiple times. He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

At the scene, FOX 5 reporter Paul Wagner said police were paying close attention to a Hummer and another sedan parked on the street. D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier was also there.

D.C. police said they were searching for a black male in his late teens, with shoulder-length dreads, who may have been wearing a black shirt and blue jeans, but no other specific details were given.

On Monday afternoon, two people were murdered in southeast Washington just hours apart. Police said they were investigating a possible connection between the two, and on Tuesday night they were able to confirm that connection. Some in the community believe the second murder may have been payback for the first.

A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest and conviction of the person responsible for the shooting.
