Police: 3-year-old dies in two-car collision in Suffolk

(AP) -- A 3-year-old boy has died in a two-vehicle accident on Route 58 in Suffolk.

The Suffolk Police Department said in a statement that five other people were injured in Sunday's crash.

Police say the mother of the boy was driving a passenger car when she lost control, went over the median and collided with a minivan traveling in the opposite direction.

The boy was pronounced dead at the scene. The four passengers in the minivan were taken to the hospital and were later released. The mother of the child was taken to the hospital and is in serious condition.

Police continue to investigate the crash.
