Police: 3 men fatally shot in different parts of DC
WASHINGTON (AP) -- District of Columbia police are investigating three fatal shootings that occurred in different parts of the city.
Police say 18-year-old Bryan Perkins was shot and killed just after 9 p.m. Friday in the Edgewood neighborhood of northeast Washington.
Then, shortly before 1 a.m. Saturday, 25-year-old Wesley West was fatally shot in the Congress Heights neighborhood of southeast Washington.
Less than an hour later, a man was fatally shot in the pricey Logan Circle neighborhood north of downtown. The victim has been identified as 33-year-old Charles Douglas of District Heights, Maryland.
Police haven't indicated there's any connection between the shootings. A police spokesman says the motives are under investigation.
D.C. Councilmember Kenyan McDuffie released a statement calling the violence unacceptable and calling for a new approach to reducing gun crime.
