Police say woman was raped after leaving bar in Gaithersburg

An investigation is underway after a 26-year-old female reported to police that she was raped after she left a bar in Gaithersburg early Wednesday morning.

According to Montgomery County Police, on Wednesday, July 26, officers were called to investigate the report of a sexual assault. Detectives spoke with the victim, who reported that at approximately 2:30 a.m., she had exited Quincy's Bar and Grille at the 600 block of Quince Orchard Road in Gaithersburg with a male that she had met in the establishment.

The victim told the officers that once outside, the man forced her to a grassy area adjacent to the Quince Orchard Plaza shopping center. The victim stated that she freed herself from the suspect's grasp as he was forcing her to the field but he was able to reestablish a hold on her. The suspect then raped her, the victim said.

After the assault, the suspect fled and the victim drove to her home to report the assault to police.

Detectives have released a composite sketch of the suspect and are asking for the public's help in identifying him. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 20 to 30 years old, approximately 5′ 3″ tall, and weighing approximately 200 pounds. He was wearing glasses and had facial hair.
