Officers serving warrant involved in accident with vehicle; find shooting victims in second car

Officers serving a warrant in Fairfax County say they have arrested several motorists after their police cruiser was struck by one vehicle and two men inside of a second vehicle were found suffering from gunshot wounds.

The strange night began around 10 p.m. Wednesday in the west Springfield area. Officers say they were dispatched to a house on the 7500 block of Tralee Woods Court to serve a warrant for reckless discharge of firearm.

While they were driving to the location, police say their cruiser was struck by a passing vehicle. The occupant of that vehicle, an adult male, was arrested.

A second vehicle was also stopped at the time of the accident. When police approached, they found two male occupants inside suffering from gunshot wounds. Both men were transported with non-life-threatening injuries.

It is unclear if the shooting victims are connected to the person who police were serving the warrant to.
