Md. man arrested after police say he tried to run over officer with SUV

A Maryland man has been charged for attempting to run over a Maryland Natural Resources police officer and ramming his patrol vehicle.

The incident happened Tuesday at around 10 p.m. in a parking area at Patapsco Valley State Park.

Police say the officer was patrolling the area in his vehicle when he spotted an SUV. The officer said the driver smashed into him and attempted to run him over after he stopped and exited his patrol vehicle. The officer fired several shots at the SUV during the incident.

The officer was transported to the hospital with minor injuries and later released.

Police have charged 20-year-old Harrison Lee Bartels, of Catonsville, with first-degree assault, second-degree assault and reckless endangerment.
