Officer helps man from burning car; arrests him for alleged DWI

MCLEAN, Va. – A police officer, who helped a man escape a burning car, later arrested the same man for allegedly driving while intoxicated.

The incident happened Saturday in the parking lot of a McLean American Legion Hall on Balls Hill Road.

The officer responded to a report of a car fire and found a vehicle in flames. Witnesses told the officer that a man was inside of the car.

The officer urged the man to leave the car, but when he appeared confused, he took the man's hand and led him to safety.

Police said the man appeared intoxicated, and after speaking with the officer, was arrested and faces charges of DWI.
