The robbery occurred about 10:45 a.m. Tuesday at the Ralphs supermarket at 2600 W. Victory Blvd., the Burbank Police Department reported.

The victim, whose name was not released, had placed her purse on the floorboard of her electric scooter while she shopped.

When she reached up to grab an item from a store shelf, the suspect reached down, snatched the victim's purse from the scooter and left the store, according to police.

Police circulated security images of the suspect -- described as a 20-to 30-year-old black woman about 5 feet 5 to 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing 110-130 pounds, with brown hair in a ponytail -- and the getaway car, a white, older-model Lexus GS.

A short time after the crime, the victim's purse was found dumped near Buena Vista and Vanowen streets.

"The victim's credit cards, identification, and currency were missing from the purse,'' police said. "It was then learned the victim's credit cards were used to make two large purchases at Target and Lowe's (stores).''

Anyone with information on the case was urged to call (818) 238-3210, or Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.
