Police: Roswell serial rapist captured after years on the run

Roswell police have arrested a serial rapist who, they say, has been attacking women for at least the last three years.

Errol Alex Martinez was arrested last week after his latest victim told police she knew her attacker from somewhere.

Authorities said persistent police work finally led them to the 23-year-old suspect who was living in the Roswell area.

In a new development late Tuesday afternoon, Norcross police said DNA evidence linked Martinez to two of their cases, bringing the total to 7.

Detectives said Martinez targeted older women and attacked many of his victims in their own homes.

"He has confessed to five Roswell cases, but we believe he has committed more sexual assaults. We are talking to Norcross police about two of their cases," Officer Lisa Holland said.

Police believe there are more victims out there who were scared to come forward when the attacks were going on.

Holland said Martinez was out on bond for a bank robbery at the Wells Fargo on Holcomb Bridge Road at the time of his arrest.

He was booked into the Fulton County Jail.
