Police: robbers with masks ambush pizza place

Police tell FOX 5, a trio of creepy-looking masked robbers ambushed a popular Northeast Atlanta pizza restaurant, and one robber punched a worker in the face.

Police said the ordeal happened right after midnight on Tuesday, as workers were cleaning up inside Fellini's restaurant on McLendon Avenue in Candler Park.

Detectives said the robbers, wearing plastic masks, and one possibly wielding brass knuckles, approached the restaurant, but only one went inside. Once inside, the report said the robber allegedly demanded cash, then punched a worker in the face and fled with some money.

Police said the robbers fled in a red sedan heading north on Page Avenue NE.

The worker who was punched tells FOX 5 over the phone, they were okay after the ordeal.

Neighboring businesses and customers said they are frightened and saddened by the ordeal.

"We're like a family. So it's scary when one of your family members has been violated," said Mary Alice Wiggins of The Moog Gallery, which is down the street.

Anyone with information is asked to call Atlanta Police or Crime Stoppers.
