Landlord discovers dead man while showing house to renter

A landlord showing his vacant rental home in southwest Atlanta Monday morning made a grisly discovery, the body of a man in his enclosed backyard patio.

Salvatore DiMauro said a man who came with his family to look at the home on Quaker Street pointed to somebody in the back when they were in the living room.

DiMauro said he went to the window overlooking the patio to wake the man up, only to discover the man was dead.

The landlord said he called 911, bringing homicide investigators and the medical examiner's office to the small brick home to try to determine what happened.

"I don't know that's what I keep asking myself, what happened?" said DiMauro.

DiMauro described the victim as a young black man. He said he is not bothered by the house numbers of his rental property, 666.

"I'm not superstitious 666, I'm a religious guy. I'm Catholic," said DiMauro.

Atlanta police said they are investigating what the motive might have been and why the man was found at that location in the first place.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact the Atlanta Police Department. A representative with the Fulton County Medical Examiners Office told FOX 5 News late Monday night that the identity of the man killed is being withheld until his family is notified.
