Harlem Globetrotters lending a hand to Harvey recovery effort

- The Harlem Globetrotters are lending a helping hand to the Harvey Recovery effort.  They're hoping to make sure certain parts of our area are not forgotten. There are still calls for supplies at the shelter at Gallery Furniture located at 7227 West Grand Parkway South.

The Gallery Furniture location is a hub where people can pick up such items as pet food, cleaning supplies---and also where you can volunteer. One volunteer said it was important to lend a hand. "I was out of town during the hurricane. When I came back in. I live at I-10 and the Beltway. Everything around us was completely 4-8 feet under water. So i was very fortunate, very grateful, so i saw on Facebook, they were needing volunteers. so i came out."

Jim McIngvale, known as Houston's beloved Mattress has opening his stores as shelters since the very beginning of Hurricane Harvey. He is the driving force behind the biggest efforts to help Hurricane Harvey victims, encouraged by the "can-do spirit and resilience" of Houstonians. One of the important things in terms of donations is that cleaning supplies are so much in need here--as well as dog food and diapers.

The other exciting addition to this Harvey effort is the special helping hand from the Harlem Globetrotters. They're on hand to help encourage with the Harvey relief effort.
