Metro Atlanta boy passes away after collapsing during soccer practice

A 7-year-old boy has died after collapsing during soccer practice in Woodstock earlier this month.

Aidan Heath suffered severe brain and heart damage after going into cardiac arrest on September 8 at the YMCA off Bells Ferry Road. According to Aidan's mom, Ashley Heath, Aidan stopped breathing so there was a limited supply of oxygen to his brain.

"He hasn't woken up. He remains unconscious," Heath said.

Heath said her son never had any prior medical issues.

"All I know is when I got to Aidan's soccer practice, I saw his coach giving him CPR and my mom doing mouth to mouth. I ran to him and he was struggling to breathe," Heath said on Facebook after her son collapsed.

Aidan was rushed to Kennestone Hospital and then flown to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston.

"We would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support for our baby," Aidan's grandmother Peggy Moore said on Facebook Saturday. "Unfortunately, it has been determined that Aidan is here in body only."

On Sunday, September 18, Aidan passed away. The heartbreaking news was shared on the Prayers for Aidan Facebook page.

Moore said doctors were able to use Aidan's kidneys, liver and intestines to save the lives of three different people in three states.

"We are so happy that Aidan was able to bring so many people together in prayer. never lose your faith."

According to the Prayers for Aidan Facebook page, donations are being collected to help the family with medical and funeral expenses.
