Montgomery County: public e-cigarette ban now in effect

ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) -- It is now illegal to smoke electronic cigarettes in Montgomery County in public places.

A bill banning electronic cigarette use in public places where traditional tobacco smoking was already banned passed the Montgomery County Council in March and goes into effect Friday.

Smoking e-cigars, e-hookahs, e-pipes and vape pens is also now illegal in the same places where smoking traditional cigarettes is banned.

The law also bans retail outlets from selling certain liquid nicotine or liquid nicotine containers unless they are in packaging that makes it difficult for children to get into.
