Monday delays at 5 stations on eastern end of Orange Line

- Weekend Metro construction difficulties are carrying over into the start of the week and are slowing the commute for riders at five Orange Line stations Monday.

Metro officials say the delays will affect the five stations on the eastern end of the Orange Line. The reduced service can be expected at the New Carrollton, Landover, Cheverly, Deanwood, and Minnesota Avenue stations where trains will run approximately every 16 minutes instead of the usual eight minutes.

Officials say they will begin Monday with single tracking between the New Carrollton and Cheverly stations. Every other Orange Line train will begin and end at Stadium-Armory, rather than at the New Carrollton station.

Customers who normally drive to stations on the eastern Orange Line should consider Largo Town Center or Morgan Boulevard on the Blue and Silver Lines as alternates.

Metro says the construction delay was caused by mechanical issues with mobile concrete plants used to pour new concrete pads under the rails. Customers who normally use the five affected Orange Line stations should allow 10 to 15 minutes of additional travel time.
