Mom pleads guilty to selling 13-year-old daughter for sex

A Virginia mother pleaded guilty to child abuse and neglect charges after prosecutors say she received cash in exchange for letting her teenage daughter live with a man, who was having sex with the girl.

According to prosecutors, 50-year-old Holly Geib received money in exchange for allowing her 13-year-old daughter to live with 31-year-old Jose Hernandez-Hernandez. They say Geib knew the man was having sex with her daughter.

Geib was arrested in September 2014. She pleaded guilty to the charges against her in court on Monday, and was sentenced to five years in prison. She will serve only one year in jail, with three more years of supervised probation when she is released.

Hernandez-Hernandez is charged with carnal knowledge of a child and indecent liberties with a child.

Geib has also been ordered to have no contact with her daughter, prosecutors say.

Prosecutors say if the case had gone to trial, they would have been able to prove that Geib recruited the man to take her daughter in exchange for money.

Hernandez-Hernandez is due back in court on March 17. His case was continued on Monday.
