WASHINGTON - More than 100 Metro employees are expected to be impacted during the latest round of reductions, Metro General Manager Paul Wiedefeld announcement in an email to Metro employees on Friday.
Due to budget constraints, Wiedefeld announced earlier this year that around 500 positions would be cut, these positions include both management and represented employees.
“Next week, we will present a proposed budget to the Board for next fiscal year, which begins July 1, 2017. I anticipate that Metro will have to make many difficult decisions to balance the budget. Over the next few days, Human Resources will be working with the executive team to notify about 100 employees about impacts to their jobs due to the budget actions we are taking. I will say more about these personnel matters once the notifications are complete” Wiedefeld’s wrote in him email to employees.
