Metro expected to eliminate 500 jobs

A staff notice sent out from the Metro General Manager and Chief Executive Officer on Monday states that Metro is expected to cut 500 positions.

According to the notice from general manager, Paul Wiedefeld, Metro identified non-essential vacant jobs as well as jobs that are redundant and no longer needed.

On Monday, officials will receive a list with positions that are no longer needed. The employees impacted by the cutbacks will be informed as soon Human Resources has finished revising outdated policies and processes, according to the notice.

The processes could take up to several months to complete, the notice states.
