Metro briefly closes station in Virginia on Election Day morning

A Metro station closed briefly on the morning of Election Day due to a police investigation.

Metro officials say the Clarendon station in Arlington, Virginia was closed for about 20 minutes while officers investigated an unattended item found. Trains along the Orange and Silver lines bypassed the station until about 5:50 a.m.

The issue was resolved and the station was reopened to rail traffic. No injuries were reported.
