Metro begins Surge #9 of SafeTrack maintenance plan

After a brief setback, Metro's SafeTrack Surge #9 has begun. The first day for the transit system's latest round of maintenance and repairs began Thursday and will last last until October 26. Train service was briefly suspended between the Vienna and E Falls Church stations at around 5 a.m. Bus service was requested but the unexpected delay was quickly resolved.

During SafeTrack Surge #9, Orange Line trains will continuously single track during weekdays between Vienna and West Falls Church Metrorail Stations.

Commuters will have to get off their trains at West Falls Church, before heading into D.C. or farther into Virginia.

In addition, on the weekends of Sept. 24-25, 2016, and Oct. 1-2, 2016, Vienna, Dunn Loring and West Falls Church stations will be closed. And then on the weekends of Oct. 8-9, 2016, and Oct. 15-16, 2016, Vienna and Dunn Loring stations will be closed.

Metro announced this warning in a release:

**Trains to/from the Vienna Metrorail Station are likely to be extremely crowded, especially during rush-hour periods. Metro riders who have the ability to do so should consider alternate travel options and avoid traveling during rush hour if possible.**
