School bus driver arrested in Montgomery County

A school bus driver in Montgomery County is under arrest for having inappropriate contact with two 11-year-old female students. Police say they began their investigation two weeks ago.

The incidents reportedly happened this school year.

Police say 59-year old Salvador Rodriguez had inappropriate sexual contact with one victim while she was a passenger on the school bus. Detectives say that on a separate occasion, Rodriguez had inappropriate sexual contact with the second victim while she was also a passenger on the school bus.

Rodriguez's bus route includes Rockview Elementary School, Newport Mill Middle School and Albert Einstein High School.

Rockview's principal sent home a letter to parents calling the charges disturbing and unacceptable. She says Rodriguez's behavior does not reflect the district and will not be tolerated.

The principal also says counselors and psychologists will be on campus on Monday. Detectives are asking parents of students who rode a school bus driven by Rodriguez to talk to their children about their interactions with him and contact police if they believe their child was victimized.

Rodriguez is charged with two counts of sexual abuse of a minor, two counts of third-degree sex offense, and two counts of fourth-degree sex offense by a person in a position of authority.
