Man's arm amputated after being hit by car, driver arrested for drunk driving

A man walking along a Maryland road last night has his arm amputated when he was hit by a car. The driver of the car was arrested for DUI.

Maryland State Police say around 11:00pm on Saturday night, 21 year old Caylen Hayes and two other people were walking along Rt. 301 near Frank Tippett Road in Upper Marlboro, MD. A car hit Mr. Hayes and left the scene. Witnesses gave police the tag number to the car. Police went to the car owner's house and questioned him. Maryland State Police say the cars owner, Lewis Carroll JR of Upper Marlboro, MD had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath and his eyes were bloodshot. He was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.

The two people walking with Mr. Hayes were not hurt.
