DC marks 142nd homicide of the year after deadly northeast shooting

- Police are investigating a homicide in northeast D.C. Officers responded to a shooting in the 1300 block of Adams Street at around 2:20 a.m.

Authorities say a man who was found suffering from gunshot wounds to his chest later died at the scene.

This is the 142nd homicide in the District this year compared to 90 homicides at the same time last year. This marks a 56 percent increase since 2014.

The name of the victim has not been released.

Police have no suspects or motives at this time.
