Man arrested, charged with murder in double shooting in DC

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Metropolitan Police Department has arrested a northeast Washington man in a double shooting that left one man dead and another wounded last month.

Police said Sunday that 33-year-old Rashad Allen was arrested on Saturday night. He's charged with second-degree murder in the shooting death of 32-year-old David Simmons of southeast Washington.

No attorney has been listed for Allen in online court records.

The shooting happened early in the morning on March 15 in southeast Washington. Officers responding to a report about the shooting found Simmons and another man suffering from gunshot wounds in the 2300 block of Hartford Street. Simmons was pronounced dead shortly after, while the other man was taken to the hospital.
