Maintenance projects temporarily close portion of Metro's Red Line

Red Line trains between the Silver Spring and Fort Totten stations and the Takoma station will be closed for over two weeks.

Metro says the work will involve the complete replacement of a mainline interlocking - a location where trains cross from one track to the other.

Officials say that during the closure, Red Line trains will operate in two segments: between Shady Grove and Fort Totten, and between Glenmont and Silver Spring.

DETAILS:

No Red Line trains between Silver Spring and Fort Totten November 25 - December 10. Limited free shuttle buses will be available at all times between stations.

Takoma Station closed. No parking available. The Park & Ride lot, Kiss & Ride and all metered parking spaces will be closed to the public.

Customers should allow extra travel time and expect some crowding as trains will arrive less frequently than normal.

On the weekend of December 2-3, Silver Spring, Forest Glen, Wheaton and Glenmont will also be closed. Limited free shuttles will be available between stations.
