WASHINGTON - There is no need for alarm if you notice that there is no water in the World War II Memorial next week.
The pool and other water features at the World War II Memorial will be drained Sunday by the National Park Service (NPS) to replace the lights. The incandescent bulbs will be replaced with high efficiency lights.
The NPS noted that the work is unrelated to the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool being drained earlier this month after a parasite was responsible for the deaths of over 80 ducklings.
The work was scheduled to avoid interfering with honor flights. The water features will be fully functional again on Friday.
