CLINTON, Md. - A motorcyclist lost control of his bike and died after he tried to flee from troopers who intended to pull him over.
36-year-old Clint I. Gaskins of Woodbridge, Virginia was traveling 80 mph in a 55 mph zone and weaving in and out of traffic on I-395 near Edsall Road, officials say.
When a trooper turned on his emergency lights to pull him over, Gaskins sped away at upwards of 130 mph according to Virginia State Police.
He lost control of the bike at Route 123 and Commerce Street in Prince William County, running of the right side of the road, striking the curb, sidewalk, and retaining wall.
Gaskins died on scene. He was wearing a helmet, but it was not certified by the U.S. Department of Transportation.
Officials are continuing to investigate.
