Woman's body found along popular Md. trail

A jogger on a popular Prince George’s County commuter path found a woman’s body on New Year’s Day, according to police.
Prince George's County Police Department Homicide Unit detectives are working to identify and arrest the suspect(s).
Her body was discovered Friday along the Northwest Branch Trail.
The victim is 20-year-old Catherine Alvarado from Hyattsville, Maryland.
Detectives do not believe this was a random act.
A man was jogging on the Northwest Branch Hiker/Biker Trail in Hyattsville around 7:20 a.m. Friday when he saw the body next to a path and immediately called 911.
FOX 5's Emily Miller asked police if the body could have been dumped, but they said she died on the scene.
There was a large police presence Friday on Ager Road because it was the first death investigation of 2016. After crime scene investigators completed their work, the body was taken by the medical examiner.
The Maryland-National Capital Park Police and the Prince George's County Police Department are working together on the investigation.
Detectives are working to identify the suspect(s) and determine the motive.
Police are asking anyone who was on the trail Friday morning to contact them.
