VIDEO: DC police seek thieves caught in the act

- Now more than ever, cameras are catching thieves in the act.

In recent weeks, D.C. police have published surveillance video on the department’s YouTube page to track down more information from the public.

In the 1500 block of 17th Street in Northwest, hooded intruders moved through an eatery and poured what appeared to be wine.

Nearby on 14th Street, a person threw a brick or rock through a store window, crawled through the shattered window and left with an armful of clothing just seconds later.

In the 2600 block of Hamlin Street in Northeast, a man approached the door of a home and walked away with a big screen TV.

We do not know if anyone has been arrested or identified in these crimes.

The police department has been criticized in the past by victims who said not enough video was released in their cases.

The mayor’s office said it supports getting residents involved in fighting crime.
