Police are searching for the suspect who stabbed two men Sunday on a school soccer field in Reston.
The incident happened at South Lakes High School on Ridge Heights Road at around 2 p.m. Investigators say two groups of men in their early 20s were playing a soccer game when an argument broke out and escalated. Police said one man stabbed two others and then took off.
“One is a 22-year-old and the other is 23-year-old who were suffering from apparent stab wounds,” Sgt. Roger Henriquez. “One to the upper body, one to the lower body. They were transported to Reston Hospital.
Police initially said one of the men had life-threatening injuries, but his condition was later updated to stable. Both victims are expected to survive. Henriquez said it’s believed the suspect knew the victims and is not a threat to the public.
Police describe the suspect as a Hispanic in his early 20s, eavy set and short hair. He may be driving a blue Subaru STI. As police investigated, kids continued to play soccer nearby.
"We walked on the field and we just saw a bunch of, like, red tape and a bunch of police on the field," said Samantha Hottle, who plays with Reston Girls Soccer.
"It's quite alarming to know something like that is going on right here where we play every week," said her dad, James Hottle.
