Three people were shot outside the Kentland Community Center in Landover, according to Maryland-National Capital Park Police.

Police said at around 10 a.m. Friday, a shootout broke out after a group of young men approached another group at picnic tables located next to a playground outside of the community center. The groups fled the area after the shooting.

Officers from Maryland-National Capital Park Police and Prince George's County police responded to the scene and found one gunshot victim nearby in the area. He was transported to Prince George's Hospital Center in Cheverly.

While police were with him, two more men from the shooting came to the hospital to be treated for their injuries. None of the injuries were life-threatening, according to authorities.

Park Police said they have identified most, if not all, of those involved in the shooting.

The community center was not scheduled to open until noon, so there were no children or citizens there at the time. There were only employees inside.

"Someone came up to tell us that someone was shooting and for us to get down and stay away from the windows," said Antoinette Guerry, regional manager for the community center.

"There were quite a few witnesses," said Maryland-National Capital Park Police Capt. Anna von Schwerdtner. "The community center only had employees at the time. There were no citizens here. However, there was a lot of construction going on, and therefore we have workers all over the place actually. So we have a lot of statements from these people involving what happened."

The identity and condition of the victims are unknown at this time. No arrests have been made.
