Good Samaritans help remove large tree that fell onto car; 1 seriously hurt

A person was seriously injured after a large tree fell onto a car in Northwest D.C.

According to U.S. Park Police, it happened Monday at around 6:30 p.m. as a Toyota Camry was driving north on Beach Drive located below Calvert Street.

Police said at least 30 people collectively helped to lift the tree off of the car while also pushing the car back away from the tree.

The victim had to be extricated from the car and was transported to the hospital with serious injuries, D.C. Fire and EMS said.

U.S. Park Police are investigating the incident.
