Bethesda water main break slows travel

BETHESDA, Md. -- A 10-inch water main break has closed part of Goldsboro Road in Bethesda.

Video from SKYFOX showed water gushing down the road around 6 a.m. Wednesday due to a broken pipe that was installed in 1941, WSSC said.

Traffic is being impacted from Tulip Hill Terrace to MacArthur Boulevard.

The westbound lane of Goldsboro Road was reopened around 8:45 a.m.

The road is not likely to be completely repaired in time for the evening rush, FOX 5's Jennifer Davis reported from the scene earlier Wednesday.

The broken pipe was part of WSSC's replacement plan. Seven customers are without water.
