FORESTVILLE, Md. - A suspect was taken into custody after a brief police chase on the Beltway after a shooting was reported in Prince George’s County on Wednesday, according to officials.
The Prince George’s County Police Department said they responded to a shooting at about 1:30 p.m. near Palmer Park and Muncy roads in the Palmer Park area.
"An off-duty officer observed two vehicles involved in a shooting and we're still trying to figure out if it was a shooting between the two vehicles or if it was just one vehicle shooting into the other vehicle," Lamar Robinson with the Prince George's County Police Department explained to FOX 5's Paul Wagner.
As officers were arriving at the scene they began to follow a vehicle they suspected was connected to the shooting. Authorities said the vehicle led them on a chase along the Beltway which ended in a crash on the exit ramp for Pennsylvania Avenue in the Forestville area.
One person was taken into custody, according to officials. There were no injuries reported at this time.
Traffic was impacted along the Beltway in the area as detectives investigated the crash scene.
