Substitute teacher accused of engaging in sexual activities, giving alcohol to student in Maryland

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, Md. (FOX 5 DC) -- A 25-year-old substitute teacher in Anne Arundel County is accused of engaging in sexual activities with a teenage student and supplying him with alcohol, according to police.

Anne Arundel County Police say on the morning of June 4, officers responded to North County High School in Glen Burnie after receiving reports of a sex offense that had occurred earlier.

When officers arrived at the school, they met with a teenage student, who attends North County High School and the Center of Applied Technologies North in Severn, who reported that a substitute teacher had "engaged in sexual activities with him as well as supplied him with alcohol."

The victim told police that in May, he and a female substitute teacher had exchanged phone numbers and would meet off school property at various locations throughout the month. Police say during those meetings, the victim and the suspect would engage in sexual activities.

During an investigation, detectives identified Alexis Merecedes Boberg, of Severn, as the substitute teacher in question. Police executed a search warrant on Boberg's address on June 5 where they took a number of items into custody as evidence.

On June 14, detectives obtained an arrest warrant and charged Boberg with two counts of fourth-degree sex offense with a person in a position of authority as well as one count of consuming an alcoholic beverage while on public property.

Boberg turned herself in to police on Monday at 11:30 a.m. without incident.

Police say the Anne Arundel County School Board "immediately removed" Boberg from having any further contact with children as soon as they were notified of the allegation.
