Springdale man shot before car crashed

- Prince George’s County police are looking for the person who fatally shot a 59-year-old man in Springdale.

Around 1 p.m. Tuesday, police say Bernard Parker was driving his red sedan in the 3700 block of Ladova Way when he was shot in the neck. His car then sped forward at a high rate of speed, struck a tree and caught on fire.

A man who came out to help said Parker was covered in blood and laying across two front seats. Parker was taken to the hospital, but he died late Tuesday night.

According to a neighbor, Parker was recently retired. He lived with his wife in a home on Utica Place.

Police conducted a neighborhood canvass Wednesday evening – going door-to-door -- as they work to identify a suspect and a motive.
