Shooting victim crashes car into Iverson Mall

Prince George's County police say a male shooting victim crashed his car into an entrance of a shopping mall in Temple Hills Wednesday afternoon.

According to police, the crash happened at Iverson Mall at around 3:45 p.m. The victim told officers that he had been shot several time prior to the accident.

"The victim approached one of our officers that were here at the mall and stated to the officer while he was sitting in his car that he had been shot," said Prince George's County Cpl. Lamar Robinson. "For reasons that remain unclear, the victim began to accelerate his vehicle into the front entrance of the mall."

Bullet holes could be seen on the driver's side of the victim's car. Police say the victim was conscious and breathing at the scene and was transported to the hospital in critical condition.

Police say detectives are working to find the exact location of where the victim was shot.

"Detectives are still trying to establish a suspect and a motive," said Robinson. "What we do know is we did have witnesses and 911 calls stating that it was some type of chase involving our victim around the area of 23rd [Parkway] and Oxon Run Drive. We are encouraging all witnesses that may have seen this to give us a call."

Police are asking anyone with information to contact them at 301-352-1200 or 1-866-411-TIPS.
