Construction flagger struck by car in Anne Arundel County, rushed to hospital in critical condition

- A construction flagger was struck by a vehicle in Anne Arundel County and rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to police.

The Anne Arundel County Police Department said the worker was struck by a vehicle in the 800 block of Pasadena Road near Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard in Pasadena at about 11 a.m.

Detectives said the driver of a Chevrolet was traveling eastbound on Pasadena Road and traffic was reduced to one lane due to construction. The construction worker, only identified as a 30-year-old woman from Baltimore, was controlling traffic using a rotating stop/slow sign, according to officials.

Investigators said the driver struck the construction worker near the right edge of the roadway. Authorities said the driver remained at the scene.

The construction flagger was rushed to the hospital and was last listed in critical condition, according to officials.

Pasadena Road was closed as detectives investigated the scene, but the roadway has since been reopened. Investigators said excessive speed or alcohol use do not appear to be factors in the crash.
