WASHINGTON - A yearly summer tradition is apparently coming to an end in the nation’s capital. Screen on the Green has been canceled this year after losing two major sponsors of the event.
According to the group, Friends of Screen on the Green, HBO and Comcast NBCUniversal have decided to discontinue hosting the outdoor movie screenings on the National Mall.
For 17 years, Screen on the Green was typically held during July and August at sunset on Monday evenings.
Friends of Screen on the Green said they are reaching out to the Trust for the National Mall to help find new sponsors to keep this event alive.
